The film is about mixed media visual artist and poet Joachim Waibel(1959) and the creation of his Stalingrad painting series. Originally from Germany, Waibel relocated to North America in 1973 and has since explored many avenues of self-expression, in keeping with his eclectic cultural upbringing and he is a postmodern renaissance man.

Hochzeit, high time, means a wedding in German. I cut together and added sound to some silent footage from my boss’s parents’ wedding. When his uncle, whom he hates, appeared in the image as a young man, we travelled his voice back in time and spelled Arschloch. Guess that’s how a family’s history becomes complicated.
